From Struggle to Spirit: YAMAREMO’s Journey of Ascent

⫸ BEFORE THE MUSIC

Alessandro Pierini, known as YAMAREMO, has lived a life marked by extremes: from pain to strength, from collapse to rebirth. Born in the hills of Tuscany, his childhood was shaped by profound challenges, including violence and serious health issues such as epilepsy and anorexia. He spent much of his youth in hospitals until, at the age of 18, a profound family shift marked the beginning of his transformation.

Amid these trials, a constant presence was his grandfather Gino, a man deeply connected to the land. Working with him in the olive grove taught Alessandro the value of natural rhythm and patience. In parallel, he dedicated over twelve years to martial arts, even competing in international Jiu-Jitsu championships.

At 16, a severe motorcycle accident left him with permanent injuries, but his resilience carried him through yet another challenge. After earning a scholarship in Natural Sciences at the University of Pisa and taking on humble yet intense jobs, he moved to Madrid, where he experienced a newfound freedom. A year later, he survived a serious car accident that deepened his awareness of life’s fragility and value.

His scientific path continued with marine biology experiences in Tuscany, Turkey, and Ireland, where he also worked on the protection of whales and the Arctic. He took part in transatlantic expeditions and lived in extreme environments such as offshore oil platforms. Yet, the calling of his spirit ran deeper and could not be fulfilled by science alone.

At 25, he embarked on a six-month journey across South America, facing extreme conditions—from deserts to snow-capped mountains—until a profound encounter with Ayahuasca in the Amazon marked his true spiritual rebirth.

In the years that followed, his life unfolded as a sequence of extreme adventures, solitary travels, and immersions into the sacred, culminating in the creation of the YAMAREMO project—an artist who fuses music, spirituality, and nature into a single transformative experience.

⫸ THE MUSICAL JOURNEY AS ALESSANDRO PIERINI

In 2018, at the age of 31, Alessandro Pierini’s life took a profound and unexpected turn. On the streets of Tarifa, he heard the sound of the handpan live for the first time—an instrument he had only admired in YouTube videos, but which in that moment spoke to him like nothing ever had before. Years earlier, during an Ayahuasca ceremony, he had been told to “follow the turtle.” Watching the handpan gleam like the shell of that slow, ancient creature, he understood that this was the path to follow.

Despite having never played an instrument before and still carrying old injuries in his arms, an irreversible inner calling awakened. Within weeks, he closed his kitesurf and spiritual retreat center, leaving everything behind to follow that mystery. He became a self-taught street musician with no financial support and no backup plan. From scratch, he learned to play, record, film, edit, and promote his art online, dedicating up to sixteen hours a day to developing an original style.

Music became his sanctuary, his healer, his teacher, his truth. During one of his street performances, he caught the attention of one of the world’s most renowned handpan makers, who sponsored him with three instruments—a decisive turning point. Alessandro began shaping a unique sound he called Progressive Hypnomelodic, a hypnotic fusion of ancestral percussion, melodic trance, and deep spirituality.

In 2018, he launched his first self-organized European tour, choosing to remain independent and rejecting the traditional record label system. The following year, he released his debut album Fly, which introduced a completely innovative approach to the handpan.

The first four years of this new musical path were marked by sacrifice: Alessandro worked as a carpenter, farmer, and builder, investing every resource into instruments and slowly building his home studio. There were moments of real hardship—skipping meals to afford equipment—but his determination never wavered.

His music began to spread organically on Instagram, attracting the attention of global brands and conscious platforms across Europe, Russia, North America, and China, which supported him in dedicating himself fully to his art. In 2021, he was invited to perform for Earth Day by Thomann, Europe’s most renowned music store.

In 2022, Alessandro brought Medicine Music for The People to breathtaking natural settings—volcanic rocks in Iceland, canyons in Jordan, temples, and forests—self-producing every expedition and video, becoming both director and visionary artist. Despite dangerous moments, including an attack he endured in Jordan, the mission continued and his music reached millions worldwide.

In 2024, he unveiled OCTOPUS, a groundbreaking format in which he played five handpans simultaneously, creating the first multidimensional hypnomelodic handpan performance—an expression of his inner complexity rooted in spiritual clarity.

Behind the scenes, he built Casina Maestra with his own hands—a fully off-grid creative sanctuary nestled in the Tuscan hills, powered by solar energy, which became the beating heart of his music.

That same year, Alessandro returned to sacred medicine ceremonies, undergoing ten days of deep communion with Ayahuasca that opened his heart as never before. This experience renewed his vision: to unite medicine music with electronic sound into ceremonial, organic, and hypnotic sonic landscapes—breathing between plants and frequencies, earth and cosmos, tradition and technology.

A music that heals. That prays. That lives.

⫸ YAMAREMO — A NEW IDENTITY

Although he had found his new musical path, in the spring of 2025 Alessandro felt a profound change stirring within. Something had to shift. His name—his public identity—still carried the weight of an old wound. He had never felt truly comfortable using his legal name for his music, yet for years he had searched for an artist name that would reflect his true essence. Nothing had ever felt quite right.

With a clear prayer in his heart, he returned to Ayahuasca for a ten-day immersion guided by his trusted teacher and dear Ecuadorian friend. His only request was simple: “Please, show me my true name.” And then it happened.

During one of the ceremonies, as Alessandro was deep in the medicine, his teacher—unaware of his intention—began to sing. When he pronounced the word YAMAREMO, time seemed to dissolve. That sound resonated in every fiber of his being. It was not just a name—it was a transmission, an ancestral memory, a spiritual activation.

In that moment, Alessandro understood: this was the name he had been waiting for his whole life. A name not born from the mind, but gifted by the medicine—carrying the vibration of his path, his healing, and his offering.

YAMAREMO was not just a new identity. It was the sound of a soul finally coming home.

⫸ YAMAREMO — THE MEANING

YAMAREMO is a mantra. A prayer. A sacred mission carried forward through sound.

YAMA means fire.
REMO means water.

Together, they embody the harmony of the elements: transformation and flow, intensity and surrender.

Read in reverse, OM ERA suggests the Age of OM—a new era of conscious vibration.

Hidden within are the words amaamaramare—“to love” in the soul’s languages: Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.

The name is made up of eight letters: the symbol of infinity, of an endless journey.

It ends with “O,” a circle of completeness, strength, and divine perfection.

It carries within it “RE,” Alessandro’s favorite musical note—a tone of return, remembrance, and resonance.

It was revealed in May, the month of his birth—a time of blooming and rebirth.

At its center lies the letter “M,” the bridge between fire and water, masculine and feminine, earth and sky.

Y AM echoes I am: a declaration of presence, authenticity, and truth.

Within it vibrate the sacred syllables RAMRAMARAMAY—sounds of devotion, joy, and divine power.

Above all, the eagle—his spirit animal, revealed by the medicine during those ten sacred days—symbol of great vision, courage, and spiritual freedom.
